Hit the hills early this morning. Thick fog n wet snow made the going a bit rough. Had to hook up the tire cables. Didn't find any birds in a familiar spot. Tried some new areas. Hiking along a ridge Bronco starts getting a little birdie. I look down at my feet at that moment and realize I'm standing on fresh Chukar tracks.
Bronco never went on point but started tracking. Followed tracks along ridge to a bush hoping to have birds flush but instead just see wing prints in the snow at the top of the ridge. Several ridges n hours later start hearing some Chucks. Headed up after em. Halfway up the hill see one bird take off. Continue on and see tracks of a nice covey runnin up the hill. Followed em up the hill and more launch pads.
Getting late so headed back. I take the high road Rutting takes the low road. He yells that he sees birds running up the hill. I back track to try and get on top of em but get busted and they flush out of range and are gone. No shots! No birds! Found new spot with three seperate coveys so in my view a successful outing.
Sorry for the short blunt description but it's late I'm tired and headed out again early in the morning.
