Do rats eat Pigeons/birds??

Something got in my loft last night and beheaded one of my squabs. I know there have been some rodents in there sharing there seed.

Yes Norway rats they will eat eggs, young, and adult birds alike. My advice is to get the suckers under control quick. They'll learn fast what a hefty source of protien a chick is.

Do you have any advice for me to rid me of those buggars? Is there any traps that work well for them? Etc.

I use hawk bait bars all year long around my pigeons. I never leave feed down for the birds once they start to go to water I remove feed. Rodents can make your birds sicks Paratyphoid (or salmonellosis)is also a killer of pigeons and the can get it from mice and rats.

You can purchase rat style snap traps at your local farm store as well as poisons. Place the traps near the holes, with the trigger/pan against the wall. You can place the poison down their holes and monitor said holes with newspaper.

I've got some of the little buggers in my coop!! What's the best poison to insure they die for the next 14 generations. I want 'em all dead and pronto.
