Land of a thousand Wonders.

I have a Daughter getting married next month and it was time to meet the Fockers so to speak. Since they live in Southern Utah near the San Rafael Swell we decided to make a family trip of it.
This is a land of ancient's with some record of it's inhabitants besides arrow heads and pot sherds.
You might recognize some of this from a cover on NG a while back.

Image

It's interesting to say the least to be standing in Elk country around 9000 feet and looking into Desert Sheep country.
Capitol Reef and parts of The Grand Staircase Escalante.

Image

A walk through a petrified forest is an unusual treat in this country. Sleeping Rainbows they call them.

Image

A modern Desert Dweller.

Image

It was on to Kodachrome Basin next where we hiked around and tried to capture some of the beauty that drew Kodak and NG here to debut their new film.
Ok girls you walk out to the edge of the cliff and I'll run the camera from here.

Image

While there I made a great archeological find, by discovering a link between the modern planters Mr. Peanut and one of his ancient fore bearers, Peanuticus Plantericus.

Image

More Desert wildlife doing a little rock slithering.

Image

Next it was on to the jewel Bryce for more hiking and Touristy type activities.

Image

If you get the chance hike down these canyons.
You won't be disappointed.
Image

The Queens Garden.
Image

When your on the rim, hang on tight as the wind can really kick up at times.

Image

Back into some Elk country for some fishing at Navajo Lake.

A little Rain never stops a determined girl.

Not wanting to quit, "Dad it's not dark Yet"

Image

A brief stop at Cedar Breaks and then on to Zions Park.
A Zion's Jaguar.

Image

It's a long way up or down depending on your perspective.

Image

Sunset in the canyon.

This little guy was keeping a real close eye on.......................

Image

....this big guy.

Image

You gotta hike the narrows while your there.

Image

Next up was the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Not as good as the South but Spectacular just the same.

Image

Back down to the desert, the vermilion cliffs and the Navajo nation then on to Glen Canyon recreation area and lake Powell.

A day's swimming with grand views in the 110 degree heat.
Image

Which brings us to the end and nothing left but a long but scenic drive home the next day.

Image

So much more to see, so little time.......
